Body should be supplemented with water to prevent dehydration. A normal tea is a very good drink that can help in re-hydration of the body. This is so because the caffeine content is very little in tea.

Diet tea is known to have high quantities of manganese and potassium. Manganese is essential for bone growth and development. Potassium is essential for maintaining a proper heartbeat. If the potassium level is low it can result in irregular heart beat and thus blood levels are affected. Fatigue sets in easily.

A diet tea with little bit of skimmed milk is a very healthy beverage. It contains carbohydrate, protein minerals like potassium, manganese, calcium, zinc and vitamins B1, B2, and B6. High vitamins level is essential in the body as vitamins help to release energy from fats and carbohydrates, increases body metabolism, provides antioxidants and strengthens the immune system in the body.

Diet tea is rich in phenols and other reducing agents, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants are very useful for maintaining health. Generally, our body chemicals have a tendency to get oxidized. These oxidation reactions of vital body chemicals lead to discharge of free radicals. Free radicals are highly reactive in nature and they can spark of any dangerous chemical reactions in the body. Free radicals have been associated with several different forms of cancer like, lung, oral, breast and throat cancer. Besides other diseases like diabetes and heart diseases are also caused. Our body has several antioxidants present. Due to environmental factors like pollution and cigarette smoking, these antioxidants are lost. Therefore, a high quantity of antioxidants should be supplemented in the body. Tea is a beverage that can supplement these antioxidants.

As a result, the overall cholesterol level decreases. Regular tea drinking also helps to regulate blood pressure and keeps it stable. As high blood cholesterol and a high blood pressure are the primary causes for myocardial infarction (heart attack), tea drinking has proved to be a good medicine for its prevention.

Traditionally it is believed that diet tea helps to lose weight. They help to increase the fat burning process by increased metabolism. Also they have laxative and diuretic effect.

However one should not get addicted to this diet tea. It can cause several side-effects including headache, nervous, sleeplessness and problems of lack of concentration. Besides unlike usual tea diet can cause severe dehydration of the body. It also has a negative effect on the heart and can cause increased blood pressure.
