Due to the pressure and demands of life, we become stressed out and we forget the essence of life. We tend to lose touch with the ones we used to spend time with, even ourselves. We find ourselves rushing most of the time with the deadlines and hassles we need to keep up with. This leaves us a small time to wander and have that physical awareness. These are the few things that yoga can provide. Once in a while, find time to dedicate a part of it to yourself to relax and unwind which only yoga can give. You will be glad you did when you can draw on all these benefits during labor, and when you are frustrated and exhausted dealing with a newborn.

The Many Benefits Of Fish Oil For Pregnancy
The Many Benefits Of Fish Oil For Pregnancy
Benefits of Fish Oil for Pregnancy
By now everyone that can read has heard of the positive health benefits of fish oil. On the other hand, we have also heard that consuming too much fish can be harmful as well. So, which is it? What are we supposed to believe? And, now with this controversy pregnant women all over the world are asking is it good for me or not? The purpose of this article is to explain a bit about the health benefits, potential harms as well as fish oil for pregnancy.
Fish Oil For Health:
Fish oil contains nutrients that have been implicated in a host of positive health prevention methods. Fish oil contains what is called omega 3 fatty acids and DHA that are included in a family of polyunsaturated fats. These nutrients taken in the right amounts have been said to allow for normal growth of children, reduce the risk of coronary heart disease as well as a number of other health benefits. Below is a complete list of positive health facts about omega 3 fatty acids and DHA.
· Enhanced mental abilities
· Growth in children and animals
· Reduced risk of heart disease
· Sense of well being leading to stress reduction
· Mood enhancement
· Improved exercise/physical activity ability
· Better blood flow
· Overall healthier life
*These are not the only benefits founded, but are the more major positive health findings.
Fish Oil In Pregnancy:
During pregnancy many women find themselves evaluating everything that they put into their mouth and with great cause. There are a ton of things that can harm the growing fetus, and most women cringe at the thought of harming or restricting their unborn child. The benefits of fish oil have not only been found to allow for health in the mother, but also the unborn child.
Numerous studies have been conducted and concluded that fish oil during pregnancy, when taken correctly had very positive effects on the child. A very recent study published in the Medical Journal Archives of Disease in Childhood reported that fish oil was found to boost the coordination, increased birth weight, reduced Type 1 Diabetes and promoted a growth spurt in the brain during the first three months of pregnancy.
Other studies have found very similar positives about fish oils. The FDA currently recommends pregnant women consume 12 ounces of fish per week from a variety of species or other sources. This is because the FDA has admitted that high levels of fish is not healthy, but at the recommended dosage the mother was much less likely to postpartum depression, which is a major concern for new mothers.
Then Why The Warnings?:
Just like anything else, too much of anything can be harmful. While most people do not believe it, did you know that too much water can kill you? That’s right, it is called water hyponatremia, and is a condition where the homeostasis is adversely affected causing the body to go into shock.
The point is that anything can have negative effects if not used in the right context. Where the concern with fish oil comes to the surface is the fact that fish can be contaminated with mercury. Mercury can be carried into the water from pollution causing the fish to have toxic levels in their system.
When the individual eats too much fish or consumes too much fish oil they can develop a problem with mercury. Too much mercury could harm the developing the brain leading to neurological disorders or learning disabilities.
Again common sense and limiting the amount of fish or fish oil is the key to health. Reading the current studies, reports and following the FDA guidelines of twelve ounces per week will assure the health of mother and baby. The FDA also recommended that pregnant women stay away from king mackerel, shark, tile fish and swordfish.
Choosing a Fish Oil Supplement:
There are a number of products on the market that provide the correct amount of nutrients in their fish oil supplements. It is always best however to ensure that the dosage does not exceed the FDA warning or not meet it either.
Remember the key to having a healthy mom and baby is to take the right amount of fish oil during the pregnancy. Studies have also shown that increased Omega 3 fatty acids above the recommended dosages did not have a more positive effect on either mom or child. That dispels the common myth that more is better!
Know the type of fish that the supplement extracted the fish oil from. It is important to ensure that the fish were not on the warned against list and came from uncontaminated waters.
Most of the supplements have information disclosing the type of fish, amounts and where the fish were obtained from. Choosing a supplement that is pharmaceutically graded should also be a determining factor.
Always talk to the doctor before taking any supplement, there may be a reason in your particular case that it may or may not be advisable.

The mother has to inform her doctor well in advance about her decision in order to avoid confusion in the birthing room. The mother has to carry the kit with her to the hospital when her labor pains start. If it is an elective cesarean, there should be no problems, but if it is an emergency C-section, the decision lies solely on the doctor whether the blood is fit for collection or not, based on the nature of the complication.
The entire process should be completed within 15 minutes of the placenta being delivered. If the cord blood collection is lesser or more than the required amount, the choice lies entirely with the mother whether she wants to donate the unit for scientific research. If there is an urgent need, umbilical cord blood unit may be preserved for stem cells multiplication. After the collection, the unit is couriered to the bank where the mother is registered. Here, the blood is tested again and preserved in highly specialized refrigerators for future use. The identity of the mother and the baby is kept confidential all the time.

How To Handle Back Pain During Pregnancy
Nobody enjoys back pains...
Pregnancy back pain during some stage of pregnancy is practically unavoidable. It is estimated that 2/3rds of pregnant women will experience back pains by the 36th week. As the baby grows larger, more pressure is placed on the back to support the mothers growing abdomen. The babys position in the womb can also contribute to back pain. There are several other factors that can bring on back pain in expecting mothers. Stress and over exertion can also be major factors, besides being unhealthy for the baby. While most back pain resolves itself several months after giving birth, some back pain can be prevented altogether. Now wouldn't that be even better?
Hey, Take it Easy!
Make time for frequent breaks and get plenty of rest. This does not mean that you have to become a couch potato, but you should take more time to rest and relax. Put your feet up, grab a cup of decaffeinated herbal tea and take it easy now and then. Try to lie down once in a while and, if at all possible, try to minimize activities that put stress on your back. At work, do not sit for too long and while you are sitting, place a pillow behind the small of your back.
Exercise Regularly
Exercise can actually help with back pain and can help to strengthen the muscles in the back. Yoga is a great exercise for this purpose. Walking is great, but you need some strengthening and stretching exercises as well. Ask around to see if there are any pregnancy exercise classes and pregnancy yoga. If classes are not your thing, you can find several pregnancy yoga and pregnancy exercise DVDs. You should check with your doctor first before doing any exercises.
Eat Right
Eating healthy and eating right can work to your advantage in several ways. First, eating healthy will help you from gaining additional weight. The less extra weight you are carrying, the less pressure you have on your back. Second, healthy eating helps your body ward off illness and actually helps it deal with pain more efficiently. Finally, drinking plenty of water will keep your kidneys working properly, which can create another type of lower back pain. Healthy eating is better for you and better for your baby.
Find a Pregnancy Girdle
The term, "pregnancy girdle", has an ominous sound, but it can be a pregnant mothers best friend. It is designed to be worn under your clothing, much like a traditional girdle. The difference is that is supports and lifts your stomach so that pressure is taken off of the back. You can pick up a pregnancy girdle at many maternity shops. Maybe you can suggest that someone get you one for the baby shower.
Monitor your Stress
Stress alone can cause lower back pain. Try to relieve your stress, even if it is for just a few moments daily. Set aside 'mommy time' on a daily basis so that you can decompress, relax and refresh. Take a warm back, meditate, listen to soothing music, anything that helps you relax. You'll be surprised at just how helpful just ten minutes a day of this activity can be in relieving your stress.

Pregnancy Acne Treatment - Acne During Pregnancy
Pregnancy is the most crucial period in the life of a woman.
Especially, the time she is pregnant for the first time, it gets too difficult for her to maintain her mental equilibrium and posture. She remains most tender; and unexplainable feelings of anxiety grip her. This is the time, when she requires understanding and sympathy, the most.
The most unwelcome development for her during this period is sickness. She remains always doubly worried. Firstly, about her own constitution, and next, how to properly support the other growing tiny self within her! Her worry about the later aspect is much more.
Is it common to be more prone to acne when you're pregnant?
Pregnancy sometimes brings on acne or makes it worse. Higher levels of hormones called androgens can prompt the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and boost production of an oily substance called sebum.
This extra sebum, combined with the shed skin cells that line your hair follicles, blocks your pores, creating an environment in which bacteria can rapidly multiply.
You can provide her with good reading material or articles on how the other women have faced similar situations in their life and how they were able to tackle it successfully.
Such success stories do a lot to boost her moral courage. That is the real medication needed at this time of her life. Don't allow her heavy mood swings to overpower her. Keep her in good humor by talking to her sweet nothings and by telling her that acne is indeed a minor problem!
But if the depression persists, it could be Postpartum Depression (PPD). Before it gets serious, consult a psychiatrist or a specialist.
What about over-the-counter acne medicated creams and astringents?
When choosing over-the-counter medicated acne cleansers and treatments, it is advised that you consult with your health care provider first. There are products that contain benzoyl peroxide, which have been recommended safe for pregnant women to use. However, there are over-the-counter medications that you may want to avoid such as products containing salicylic acids.
Research has been done and top Dermatologists agree that there has been no cause found to prevent using these products to treat Acne during pregnancy. However, the main choice lies with the woman as to whether or not she feels comfortable using these products during the pregnancy period.
When it comes down to it, there really is no exact safe Acne treatment during pregnancy. The best advice is to simply wash the affected area with mild soap twice per day and avoid using makeup, if possible. Just remember that it is only temporary and will go away within a few weeks of your baby being born.

Losing Weight After Pregnancy
Losing Weight After Pregnancy
Losing all of your pregnancy weight after giving birth is on a lot of new mums minds, but how fast you can do this depends on a few factors. The first factor is obviously how much weight you gained during your pregnancy.
Most women will lose about ten pouds, or maybe a bit more within the first couple of weeks after delivery, as well as the weight of the baby this loss also includes the placenta and fluid loss.
Breastfeeding speeds up weight loss if you are able to and choose to do this. you will also find that as your uterus shrinks back down to its normal size you will lose weight.
It will take a bit of time to get back your pre pregnancy weight, after all it did take nine months to put on , so it is not gonna dissapear overnight, but if you eat sensibly and take some exercise you should be able to shift those pounds.
While you are still breastfeeding your body may hang onto a few pounds, this is your body,s way of ensuring that you have enough energy to provide adequate milk for your baby.
Every woman is different in respect to how quickly they lose the weight, some women lose it in just a few weeks but it depends on the individual. If you are generally quite fit before the pregnancy you might find losing the weight after easier than someone who is maybe not quite as fit .
The important thing is to start exercising slowly and work up to doing more each week, even just getting out and going for a walk can help your body shape up and lose that fat.
If you eat healthily and take some exercise you should find that the weight drops off eventually.
